Corporate Schmorporate

I work for a behemoth.

It's massive and covered in red tape. Decisions are deliberated and discussed, painstakingly reviewed with data and feedback and numbers and the ever-mythical "voice of the customer."

Meetings scheduled for 25 useless minutes drag on and on. Taking things offline, code for “don’t feel like talking about this right now,” creates ridiculously long lists of taks and emails and even more calls to schedule.

But that’s not even the worst part.

The worst part is the complete waste of it all.

The meetings. The decisions. The high priority tasks. The documents with comments enabled.

Nobody cares.

What people care about is over there. Beyond the window. Outside. The life they so plan to live one day, but somehow never find the time for.

The trips and “unplugged” staycations. The time spent with family. That translates to bantering updates and LinkedIn posts about “living in the moment” and “being present.”

Like, what?

Just live right now. Walk away. Leave them to their tasks and calendaring and offsites.

Watch them waste these precious days.

While you, you simply breathe.
